I am a Canadian Citizen living in Canada and I have a 3 year old child living abroad. Her mother and I have had an on and off relationship for the last 10 years but we have not been together in a formal relationship until before my child was born. We have now taken important steps to reestablish our relationship for the sake of our child and are commited to making it work here in Canada. Our issue is that we aren't legally married and I believe we don't qualify as common-law partners as we have not lived together for an extended period of time since 2018. I am currently in the process of obtaining Canadian citizenship for my child but my question is, can I still sponsor the both of them to come to Canada? If so, which route can I take based on our circumstances?
Any information would be greatly appreciated
