How to get a visa yourself?
You got your ticket, but you just found out you need a visa for your destination. Now, what are you going to do?
You can go ahead and google it. You’ll quickly find out that it’s not so straightforward. Eventually, you will realize that you will have to deal with some Embassy or Consulate. Next, the hard reality is that they are not so happy dealing with you. Plus, the government website is confusing and, in some cases, out of date.
So, if you are going to do it yourself, here are the golden rules to follow:
- Get the same answer at least twice. Once you have found the application and instructions, you need to make sure it’s not out of date. We found that over half of the websites have information that has not been updated (sometimes for years). You will need to call and confirm the information.
- Go in person to submit your application. Avoid the mailing option.
- However, if you do use mailing, here are the rules:
- keep courier tracking info,
- make copies of everything you send, and
- only do this if you are not pressed for time.
Alternatively, you can use a third-party company to do this for you. The only downside is the extra cost, but it’s a small sum compared to the time and stress you save. Anyone can open a third-party visa company, so follow the rules in finding the right firm.
- They pick up the phone or they call you back the same day.
- The company reviews everything you send to them. Surprisingly, some firms submit your application without even reviewing it and won’t even take responsibility for your mistakes. I’d rather pay more but know that my mistakes will be spotted before submission of my application.
- They have answers to your questions. This shows experience.
Immigroup has been in the legal paperwork industry since 2004. We know all the great firms, and more importantly, we know the ones you should avoid. If you are going to use a third party, here are our recommendations,

Our Directory gives you information on each country and their visas
Use our directory to search through the countries and find the country you need a visa for. The directory will have do-it-yourself information if you want to have a go on your own. However, it will also list a third-party company approved by Immigroup, if you would rather get them to take care of the process. Rest assured that any third-party company we recommend will be a service with lots of experience dealing with foreign government requirements for visas, one that understands what you need and how to get it done.
