UK First or Renewal Passport Application in Canada

Claiming British Citizenship by Descent

Our goal is to make the application process as easy as possible and help you solve ANY issues regarding your passport application. The application for a first UK passport in Canada is a four step process:

Claiming British Citizenship by Descent

The following guidelines explain the criteria needed to get a first British passport on the basis of descent.

Descent from a father: You were born to a father who was a British citizen at the time of your birth AND your father was legally married to your mother at that time.

Descent from a mother: You are entitled to a British Passport if you were born after January 1, 1983 AND your mother was a British Citizen at the time of your birth. If you were born before January 1, 1983 to a British mother you may still be eligible for a passport. Please contact us for an in depth assessment of your case.

UK Passport Application from Canada

Immigroup can get you a first UK passport within 4-6 weeks if you qualify for British citizenship on the basis of descent. or If you have had a British passport before and wish to renew it. All you have to do is send your completed application along with supporting documentation to us and you will receive your passport by courier. The application for a UK passport in Canada is a four step process:

STEP 1

A. Fill out the Application Form
Download and complete the appropriate application kit including the Immigroup order form.

NOTE: if you are not sure how to complete a particular section of the application form please leave it blank. We will call you back once you have faxed your forms to us.

B. Supporting Documents:
Make a photocopy of the front and back of a Provincial photo ID.

C. UK Passport Photos
See your local photographer and ask for 2 UK passport photographs.NOTE: Photos must meet the specifications outlined by the application and taken within the past 12 months.

D. Guarantor:
Please see the instructions printout to find out who can be your guarantor. Your guarantor needs to complete and sign Section 10 on page 4 of your application.

Note: Your guarantor must also sign one of your photographs and the photocopy of your provincial photo ID.

E. Original Documents
You must submit the following original documents with your application:

UK Birth Certificate of your British mother or father. If your parent has a lost UK Birth Certificate, they will need to get a replacement. Immigroup can help you get a replacement UK birth certificate.

For Renewal Passport Application Only:
Your Long-Form Canadian Birth Certificate. If you have lost Canada Birth Certificate, you will need to get a replacement. Immigroup can help you get a replacement Canada birth certificate.

All original documents will be returned back to you. If you are missing a document, Immigroup will help you to obtain it. Please inform us of any missing documents when you are contacted by Immigroup. If you do have the above documents please make a copy and fax them to us along with the application for a review.

STEP 2:
Submit your Application Form Send your completed UK passport forms to our head office for review along with photocopy of your Provincial photo ID and your original Birth Certificate to us including your order form. One of our agents will contact you once we have reviewed your UK passport application. Fax your package to us at 416-640-2650 or scan and email your package to info@immigroup.com. A passport agent will contact you within 24 hours once we have reviewed your application and will answer any questions you may have.

STEP 4
Receive your British passport including all your original documents.

Passport Fees

We offer two services for filing a UK passport in Canada;

Regular Passport Filing
We will check your application and ensure that you have all of the correct supporting documents then file your application with the relevant authorities in Canada. The fee for this service is $472.75. You will receive your new British passport within 4 to 6 weeks.

Urgent Passport Filing
If you need a British passport on an urgent basis we can ensure that you will receive it within 5 to 10 business days. The fee for this service is $1,018.75. We will check your application and ensure that you have all of the correct supporting documents then file your application with the relevant authorities in Canada.
